The Mother of all days!!!

School started yesterday!!! I was nervous...(yes this blog is ALL about me) SO many new things would he cope ok, would him eating his lunch be ok, would the friends in his class be ok, would he get along without me in the classroom ok. The answer to all of that is yes!!! he did perfect, he rocked actually!!! He was a bit nervous in the beginning...but by the end of the day he came home happy and set to go again.

I had it rough...not sure why but I cried like a big baby!! I had trouble breathing I FREAKED out like a crazy momma!! I tried oh so hard to not let it show for him...but my emotions are on my sleeves and my kids already know that. I'm not sure if I was crying for me, for him, or both I was sad because I"m letting go of my boy for the 1st real time. Yeah he started school last year but I was in good control last year....I was in class 3 days a week!!! This year I will be lucky if it is 3 hours and that is hard for me. We have sooo many parent volunteers in the class that I think there will be cat fights on the playground to see who gets to help out!!!

Then the stress of his allergies was bugging me...not knowing how things really work and not knowing if the yard duty people would really care enough to pay attention. There are 4 yard ladies I can't say that any of them impresses me. The 1st greeted me with "oh my son has allergies too, we went to the ER last week for it...but his is 22 and deals with things himself" Ok it started out comforting than quickly went down hill. Then 2 of the ladies really could of careless, not shaking my hand, not asking my name or his, nothing. They told me to go talk to the lunch lady so she was more aware than them....Hello if he isn't buying lunch she needs to know but you guys are the ones watching him eat. If he makes an error in judgement and eats something from another kid are you going to save his life. Yes I know they aren't suppose to share food, but is that really what goes on....I was a 6 year old once!!! The last lady was REALLY nice so we have some hope. She talked at great lengths to me and gave me some lunch ideas. How to help him keep it separated. She was great...to bad she sits on the playground and not in the quad when they actually eat lunch. I know he isn't the 1st allergy kid nor will he be the last but please give his momma a bit of peace of mind that he will be fine. I try so hard not to make a big deal but it is even if his allergy is small it exists and shouldn't be taken lightly!!!

And if that all wasn't enough.....my work called and said if I wanted to work "on call" I would loose 5 bucks and hour and not be able to perform my current position. A tiny back story....I put in my 2 weeks notice 2 weeks ago after 16 years....that was no easy task. Am I ready to quit??? sure I'm SOOOOO ready but do I want to quit??? that is the bigger question for me... When it comes time to find a job will I?? When it comes time to find a job will Hubby be patient as I find it?? Will I be able to come back if I wanted too (ta my old job)?? Will I be able to find a job making what I make now?? Will it be ask flexible as I need it to be with the kids and hubby's job?? I don't want my kids to ever be in daycare...that is just not for me!!!! So many questions and uncertainty....I just can't say for sure I"m done....that whole I hate change chiming in again!!!

SO the icing on the cake...which I will give no details & no back story for....Hubby's sister is getting married November 22nd...but hello she just got divorced and hello has 4 kids that she clearly isn't thinking about....all I can say there is UGH!!!!

Today will be better I can feel it!!!!

Train Chalk

This morning we had a luncheon at school for all the volunteer moms. It was nice to be appreciated. But my favorite moment was when I found my boy outside playing with his little friend Macie. The two had constructed a huge chalk train track with every kind of train car possible. It was huge and they were sooo happy. I love that he loves trains...I continually hope that he NEVER looses his desire to ride the rails....

Last night while Sweet Pea was at the grocery store with daddy they chatted...

SP "I won't have to hold my pinky down any more soon"

Daddy "what do you mean??"

SP "I'm gonna be 4 soon"...as she holds up her fingers to show 3 fingers changing to 4.

long time no post...sorry

This afternoon little buddy helped his little sister put a band-aid on....it was the sweetest sight I have ever seen. All of a sudden the sweet bug has hit him and compassion, love and a flood of other emotions have come out of my little boy. A level of maturity I haven't seen before....it is really amazing.

Last weekend I had a grand adventure with my girlfriends. A weekend full of 1st for me. We headed to Six Flags early in the morning...4:30 to be exact. We rode rides and got the thrills scared out of us all day. It was an adventure in and of itself. I don't think I have ever screamed as much as I did on Tatsu...you are litterally flying through the air. One scary ride!!! On Sat. morning we leasurly got up and headed to Santa Barbara, again a 1st for me. We shopped for a few blocks and enjoyed the surrounding area. I found a scrapbook store since it was national scrapbook day. Loved shopping, loved walking on the beach, loved hanging out with my girlfriends, loved having pina coladas. Then on Sunday we got up and headed home with a stop in Solvang. The cutest little town I have ever seen. We shopped and snacked for the afternoon.

Letters...

I read a great book recently and I have wanted to make note for awhile now....A book on letters to a younger self...

I wish I wrote letters to myself.......as memories for the future
I wish my mom wrote letters to me..... something to explain what was happening in our lives
I wish I had letters my grandma wrote to grandpa when he was away serving in World War Two
I wish I had written more letters to my brother while he served in Iraq
I hope that my children write letters to me when I am old...
I'm happy I kept almost all the letters hubby has written me over the year,
& I'm happy that I write my children a letter on each of their birthdays.... reminding them they are loved and what they have done through out the year.... as well as what the world has done in a year.

We as a society are getting away from writing regular written letters and mailing them though snail mail. I always remember to send cards on holidays to grandparents, but never though out the year. I hardly ever send friends letters...but rather an e-mail. I'm going to make an effort this week to write 3 letters and mail them to friends. Just to say "Hi." Who could you write a letter to??

A catch up of sorts!!

Last week Bubble Boy had an awesome field trip to a local pizza palor planned that Sweet Pea and I couldn't go to (school regulations about siblings) no biggy I was mentally prepared. The morning of the fieldtrip I handed his teacher all his allergy stuff just as a precaution of course....next thing I knew we were going on the field trip. Now I wasn't ready for that and I lost it for what reason I have no clue...but I sat in the classroom and cried. Was it a relief that I was going, or was it frustration that things weren't decided earlier, I don't know!! But we had a great time riding public transit, making & eating pizza.

Then Wed. we had crafty kids club (cKc), we made great Easter bags, smore bunnies, and handprints. I can't believe that Easter is right around the corner...so quick so fast this year is going.

The best day was Saturday!! We ran around in an organized fashion and got a bunch of stuff done.
We headed to Lowe's at 10 for their free craft. The kids made periascopes! So cool a project!

After Lowe's Hubby & Bubble Boy went to the 2nd T-Ball practice. We have a good little hitter on our hands. It is amazing what a difference a year makes with organized sports. We have done 2 seasons of soccer so we thought we would try T-Ball. This maybe one of Bubble Boy's stronger sports....I'm excited it is my favorite!! He seems to be having a great time thus far!!

After practice I ran to a baby shower for a friend...she is having twins. I"m so excited for them!! I love holding babies!! I can't wait to lend a hand. I gave them an adorable set of onesies (if I may say so myself) I made them "thing one & thing two) onesies from Dr. Seuss. She loved them!!!

Finally the best part of the day was Sweet Pea's 1st dance recital. I was amazed at how she did... PERFECT!!! I thought she would be nervous to get on the big stage in-front of the whole world. But she was so excited. Both her preschool teacher & dance teacher were there. She did everything just like she was suppose to. She smiled, twirled, leaped, and spun just like an old pro. I'm so very proud of her!! She started classed in September and wasn't happy about it. She HAD to have me sitting in the room watching her. I think now she is totally comfortable and happy dancing her little heart out.

Oh yeah I can't forget we celebrated my brother's daughter's 1st birthday. I can't believe how fast a year goes. I wish I could see her more and spend more time with her. She has really no clue who we are.

OK I'm off to take on the day of catch-up. Bubble Boy is home sick, so that means a day of busy cleaning and laundry. Enjoy!!

Happy Valentines Day

Usually I don't like Valentines Day ....way to commercial...you spend a million dollars on flowers only to have them die early because the whole world is doing the same thing!! Then you try to go to dinner and every body else is too, you pay double the price because you wanna be out on Valentines Day. UGH!!! Well sadly I'm a sucker this year...well wouldn't you be if your hubby was willing to get a baby sitter and hit the town!! I'm very excited to go to dinner it has been since before Christmas that we went out ALONE. The kids will be with sitter for 4 1/2 hours YIPPY!!! What ta do with all that time hummmmmm.....

I did enjoy today at the kiddos schools. We had a big party in the Kinder Class imagine 20 kids strung out on candy & cupcakes exchanging valentines at the same time....total chaos, but oh so fun!!! I have never seen so much junk in one place!! I thought parents were to send healthy snacks....well we got milk with strawberry nesquik in it, pizza, cupcakes, candy, chips (3 kinds) cream cheese & jelly sandwiches, frosted sugar cookies all before NOON. WOW!! Sadly to my son & daughters dismay most of it ended up in the trash!!! I don't want the dental bills. They had a great time even if I spoiled the snacking part of it.
Wishing you all a Happy Valentines Day...now go hug your loved ones!!!

Some Sleeping Asistance please...

Bubble boy was up last night...not as bad as some but-non-the-less up. They both took naps in the car on the way to pick-up dad, which meant they could not get to bed. Some of that is our fault I'm sure! Since BB was 2 Daddy has read Thomas the Tank to him nightly...falling asleep to the low humm of daddy's voice. And Sweet Pea, well if she naps even for 5 min. she is up till 10, no kidding!! Crazy bedtime habits are hard to break. Sometimes Bubble Boy has a few night mares/night terrors too...ya know sitting and simply screaming "NO" at the top of his lungs. Often times simply going potty solves the problem. Most times we need to just sit and wait it out. I feel so bad for him since there is pretty much nothing anyone can do to help him out. When he has an over stimulated evening they are worse. Just another bit of our lives making us who we are.

Is he really 5??

Some one pinch me or wake me up....He is 5 wow!!!Amazing having a 5 year old changes my perspective ever so slightly...I feel like I'm missing something...did I catch everything I think I needed to in the first 5 years??!! Where did the time truly go?? How did he "all-of-a-sudden" turn 5?? I think I'm gonna focus during the next few weeks on scrapbooking & journaling what happened in 5 years. The little things I don't want to forget or let him forget. A child's memory grows so fast so many things are easily forgotten. I would love to know little things about me when I was 5 ...I sure don't remember my everyday life. Little glimpses of my 1st part of school, a friends, or what did I get for Christmas? What did I have for breakfast, what was on T.V. that I liked?? Who did I play with...all just a blur to me. Maybe Bubble Boy will remember with a bit of help from me. 5 years way to fast....and I'm sure 5 more will go just the same.
